TUBERCULOSIS (TB)

Tuberculosis—commonly known as TB—is a serious disease that usually affects the lungs but may spread to other organs. It is passed from person to person by air through coughing, sneezing, laughing, or even singing. Babies, young children, elderly people, and anyone with a lowered immune system are at a higher risk, because their body defenses are weaker. TB can be prevented, treated, and cured. Untreated, it can cause death.
