BE TOBACCO FREE

Tobacco use is the single most preventable cause of disease, disability, and death in the United States.

In one year, about 18 percent of all deaths among Kitsap County adults age 35 and over were related to smoking. This represents 300 lives lost in our community.

Our state government spends $26.7 billion on health care each year. 6 percent of the total, or $1.6 billion, is spent on the tobacco-related illnesses for adults 18 years old and over.

We work to reduce the burden tobacco places on our community by:

  • Helping you quit;
  • Preventing youth from starting;
  • Reducing your exposure to second-hand smoke.

The links at the left contain information that will help you take charge of tobacco in your life. Need help for quitting? Looking for smoke-free housing? Want to help someone you care about avoid peer pressure to smoke or chew? It’s all there.
